Eye examinations allow for a thorough examination of various aspects of your vision. An ophthalmologist or optometrist will assess whether you have problems such as:

  • Farsightedness: When you see well from a distance but poorly up close.   
  • Astigmatism: When you see images distorted due to the uneven curvature of the cornea. 
  • Cataracts: When the lens of the eye becomes cloudy, resulting in impaired vision.

 

Visual Acuity Assessment

During the examination you will be asked to read letters or images from different distances. This will assess the acuity of your vision. The result of this test will help determine whether you need vision correction with glasses or contact lenses.Visual Field Test

However, for spectacle or contact lens wearers, people over 40 and those with existing visual problems, the frequency can be higher and should be determined in collaboration with an ophthalmologist or optometrist.
